A specimen of the Sericho pallasite meteorite from Kenya. Pallasites are stony iron meteorites containing olivine crystals within an iron nickel metal matrix. This combination brings together two contrasting materials in a single extraterrestrial rock.
In this cut and polished specimen, the metal provides a reflective background to the olivine. Some crystals can transmit light when the specimen is sufficiently thin. Colour, transparency and the proportion of metal vary between individual pieces.
Included: certificate of authenticity from IMCA member
